The importance of self-care and how to adapt it to everyday life

As part of our partnership with Breast Cancer Now, Beldray is encouraging everybody to take some time out and make way for self-love. For many of us, taking care of our own mental and physical well-being can be at the bottom of our priority list and while we understand that life can be busy, a consistent routine will help fit in some ‘me-time’, whether it’s for 5 minutes or an hour each week. Getting into the swing of a routine will not only improve your quality of life but will also remind you to TLC: Touch, Look, Check.

Touch your breasts: can you feel anything new or unusual?

Look for changes: does anything look different to you?

Check any new or unusual changes with your GP.

Checking your breasts with TLC can be as easy as 1,2,3!

How to practice self-love

Firstly, plan the week ahead and allocate a day for yourself, this can be done effectively with a checklist, and remember to be as thorough as possible when writing down your upcoming tasks. Ticking off jobs, no matter how big or small, can be rewarding and will stop your mind from working overtime.

Wake up and stretch, this will help reduce muscle tension and soreness, giving you the best possible start to the day. After breakfast, go for a walk, it doesn’t have to be strenuous but make it count. Soak up your surroundings by listening to the sounds around you and breathe in the fresh air. Leaving the house for 10-15 minutes every day can have a huge impact on your mood, boosting productivity and enhancing physical fitness.

We believe a tidy home means a tidy mind

Clutter can often create chaos, which is why it’s so important to maintain a tidy home. If you try to relax in a room surrounded by mess, you’ll find it hard to switch off which is why it’s important to keep floors and upholstery dust-free and the  Airgility Pet Plus + Vacuum will do just that. Cordless and versatile, this Airgility Vacuum cleaner is the perfect addition to any cleaning collection. Boasting up to 40-minutes operating time from a 5-hour charge, you’ll be able to clean the entire house in one go. To show support for Breast Cancer Now, this bestselling vacuum has turned pink and £5 from each product sold will be donated to the BCN organisation.

One, two, self-check, then zeeeen!

Now, in the evening it’s time to relax and unwind. This could involve lighting some candles, having clean pyjamas and bed sheets to get into, reading a book and staying off social media, putting on a refreshing face mask or having a long soak in the bath. No matter how you detox, make checking your breasts part of your self-care routine this Breast Cancer Awareness Month. There’s no right way to check as long as you do it regularly. Whether you do it in the bath, when you’re putting on body lotion, after your morning yoga or snuggled up on the sofa, it’s easy to make self-checking part of your self-care routine. It could help save your life.
